Humanitarian Aid

Over the last ten years, we implemented social aid programs.

ALPHA distributed 100,000 food baskets, 25,000 hygiene kits, implemented 7 winterization projects, provided oxygen devices during the covid pandemic to 150 patients unable to pay hospital bills, supported 3000 families with schooling fees and rent costs. After the Beirut blast, thanks to all its donors, ALPHA repaired 401 houses and 32 shops in Bourj-Hammoud damaged by the explosion.

These interventions were efficiently managed by our skilled social workers, their inputs were essential to direct the aid flow, especially in urgent situations.

In the context of the current Lebanese crisis, ALPHA capacity building department took the initiative to empower the social workers’ profession in Lebanon. Since 2021, the capacity building department has provided trainings and supervision sessions to undergraduate social worker students, in collaboration with the social work department of the public Lebanese University.

These sessions include:

  • Personal empowerment, coaching and supervisions sessions with the objective to strengthen the personal capacities of the social workers, at risk to be overwhelmed by dealing with the increased needs of the Lebanese population. Sessions comprise advice on how to step back and protect themselves from burn out, and how to plan their daily work to oversee their tasks.
  • Guidelines for case management, outreach and needs assessment, with the objective to optimize humanitarian service’s impacts.
  • Cognitive empowerment, with the objective to motivate them in contributing to the development of aid agendas for Lebanon.
  • Project management guidelines, with the objective to translate their knowledge in
    project design and proposal writing.
